New Energy Equity donates $10,000 through Lift as We Climb Foundation to Support Local Charities
Annapolis, MD, January 25, 2022 — New Energy Equity (“New Energy”), a national developer and financier of community and commercial solar projects, announced today $10,000 of donations to three community organizations through its charitable giving arm, the Lift as We Climb Foundation.
Each year, New Energy Equity donates a portion of profits from the company based on employees achieving goals set throughout the year. The Lift as We Climb Foundation deploys these funds to support non-profits dedicated to leaving behind a better world within their communities. Employees selected The Annapolis Light House ($2,500), the Chesapeake Bay Foundation ($2,500), both of Annapolis, MD where New Energy Equity is headquartered, and the Community Food Share ($5,000), of Boulder County, CO, where the opening of a New Energy regional office is underway.
“New Energy Equity is thrilled to be able to give back to our local communities through organizations whose values align closely with our mission of leaving behind a better world,” said New Energy Equity General Counsel and President of the Lift As We Climb Foundation, Jim Wrathall. “The Light House, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and Community Food Share provide much needed resources in our communities and we are proud to support their programs through the Lift As We Climb Foundation.”
Founded in 1989, Annapolis Light House provides support those in the community who are experiencing or are at risk of homelessness with programs including housing solutions, a food pantry, employment services, and social enterprise through the Light House Bistro.
“We are grateful to New Energy Equity for participating in our 2021 Light House Holiday Gift Drive,” said Light House Executive Director, Jo Ann Mattson. “At The Light House, we provide vital homelessness prevention and support services to hundreds of neighbors in need each day, and our Annual Holiday Gift Drive brings much needed joy to these individuals and families during this special time of year. Together, we can ensure that our neighbors struggling with the trauma of homelessness can get into the holiday spirit and further their path towards healing and hope.”
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) is headquartered in Annapolis, MD but its reach spans to Pennsylvania and Virginia as it works at the local, state, and federal level to protect the waters of the Chesapeake Bay through education, advocacy, litigation, and restoration programs.
“As residents of the Chesapeake Bay watershed, we are lucky to have New Energy Equity right here in our backyard and grateful to receive their donation through Lift As We Climb,“ said Associate Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations, Sarah Boynton. “At the CBF, we value partners like New Energy Equity who understand how important clean water is to our quality of life. Support like this helps CBF share with thousands of students the wonder of learning outside and CBF’s goals of planting millions of trees and adding billions of oysters can become a reality. Together we can Save the Bay.”
Community Food Share serves as a community connector providing fresh, nutritious food for families, seniors, students, and other local partners to deliver millions of pounds of food to neighbors in need. New Energy’s donation supported their annual Turkey Trot 5k, where donations furthered the organization’s mission to eliminate hunger through engagement, collaboration, and leadership.
“Community Food Share is so excited to welcome New Energy Equity to our family of corporate supporters, said Chief Development Officer, Dina Coates. “The Turkey Trot sponsorship provided the equivalency of over $15,000 worth of groceries back into our local community. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have experienced over a 30% increase in food insecurity. New Energy Equity may be new to our community but has already made a significant impact on local hunger.”
