Harlem Consolidated School District

Ground Mount

This community solar project on land owned by the Harlem Consolidated School District was acquired by New Energy Equity in 2025 after being originally developed by BOW Renewables, LLC. It will provide discounts on electricity through community solar bill credits to both the school district in eastern Winnebago County and residential customers in the Commonwealth Edison service area.

In Machesney Park, school leaders and local officials gathered to celebrate the energization of this project and recognize local students. Through the project, Harlem School District will receive annual lease payments and electricity bill credits, helping reduce energy costs and create long-term financial value for the district. Those savings can be reinvested across nine schools in Machesney Park and Loves Park to support students, staff, classrooms, and other educational priorities. In addition to delivering reliable, cleaner energy to the community, the project reflects a long-term investment in the next generation, with New Energy Equity providing $10,000 in annual scholarships for local students throughout the project’s 25-year lifespan.
