Community Benefits

New Energy Equity unlocks the benefits of solar for landowners and their communities.

How Solar Benefits Communities

Solar projects generate real benefits for the communities where they are located.

Energy Supply

Solar projects help meet the growing demand for electricity. The power generated goes directly to your local utility grid and helps offset higher prices due to increased demand or spikes in oil & gas prices.

Local Revenue

This solar project will generate hundreds of thousands of dollars of property tax revenue paid by New Energy Equity to help fund for your schools, libraries, and roads.

Grid Resiliency

Distributed energy resources, such as solar projects, provide more sources of energy generation and make the grid more resilient in the face of climate disasters and severe weather and less susceptible to outages.

Community Solar

Many New Energy Equity solar projects are community solar projects. Local households enroll in a community solar program and receive bill credits at a discount on their monthly electric bills for the value of the power generated by their share of the solar project. For households, it's like sharing the benefits of a solar system without needing panels on your roof.

The Lift As We Climb Foundation

As leaders in the solar industry, we are proud to champion causes and nonprofits that strengthen our communities and help create a more prosperous future for all.

Each year, New Energy Equity contributes a portion of its profits toward community impact, based on goals set throughout the year. The Lift As We Climb Foundation then directs these funds to nonprofits dedicated to creating a better world through solar energy projects, education, and workforce training.

The foundation has raised nearly $800,000 since it began, an average of $200,000 annually.
